Calais is situated on the northernmost part of France overlooking the Stait of
Dover at the narrowest part of the English Channel. Its population is
roughly 126,000. Most of Calais was destroyed by heavy bombardments during
World War II, so many of the sites are dedicated to learning about the horrors
of the war. Museums such as La Coupole and the Musee de la Guerre are
just two examples. Of special interest to our car rental or car lease
clients are the outskirts of Calais where you will find Cité Europe, a gigantic
shopping complex with shops, restaurants, bars, a multiplex cinema, games and
arcades. To the west is a very scenic section of the coast. |
